Barometer

Nicolaas Lanckamp, 1709

This barometer was made for the assembly hall of the States General in the Binnenhof at The Hague. The coats of arms of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces are arranged around the mercury barometer.

Description
Barometer in glazen kast, met vergulde lijst bekroond door twee leeuwen op de hoeken en een schelpmotief in het midden. Het bord is van zwart geschilderd hout. De kwikzuil wordt omgeven door snijwerk met ondermeer de wapens van de Zeven Provinciën en bekroond door twee leeuwen die het wapen van de Republiek vasthouden, boven de spreuk: "Concordia res parvae crescunt". De barometer is onderaan gesigneerd: "N. Lanckamp, 1709" en is gemaakt voor de Vergaderzaal van de Staten-Generaal in het Haagse Binnenhof.
