The straight silhouette of this Mondrian dress set the scene of the ‘Swinging Sixties’, when mini-skirts became shorter and shorter. This youthful look emerged under the influence of the up-and-coming youth culture, with figureheads such as the supermodel Twiggy. It was the first generation after the Second World War to freely express its own identity with a renewed sense of optimism.
