Plate bearing the arms of Amsterdam

Plates showing the heraldic emblems of provinces and towns were made in three styles. This plate and shaving basin represent the earliest style, identifiable by its pentagonal panels featuring luxury objects and Chinese figures.

  • Description

    Schotel van porselein met geribde wand en geschulpte rand, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw en op het glazuur blauw, rood, groen, geel, zwart en goud. Op het plat in een medaillon het gekroonde wapen van Amsterdam met daaronder het opschrift 'AMSTELDAM', om het wapen bloemtakken, twee vlinders en twee vogels. De wand is verdeeld in twaalf bloembladvormige vakken met afwisselend een bloemenvaas (aster, prunus, pioen, lotus, orchidee, chrysant) en een persoon in een landschap; tussen de vakken servetwerk. De achterzijde met twee bloemtakken. Enkele chips in de rand; drie barsten in de rand. Wapenporselein met famille verte emailkleuren.
