Seishi

anoniem, c. 1400 - c. 1600

The deity Seishi stands for wisdom and in Japan is always represented as part of a triad. In a temple, he and his attendant Kannon (Chinese: Guanyin) would have flanked the Buddha Amida. Seishi is invariably seated to Amida's right with his hands folded before his chest in obeisance of Amida’s higher power.

Beeld van hout met verguld lakwerk, van de bodhisattva Seishi, half knielend en met de handen verticaal tegen elkaar gehouden voor de borst, in de handhouding van aanbidding (kongō gasshō, anjali-mudra). De sokkel is opgenomen onder inventarisnummer AK-MAK-119-1.
