Troonzetel van koning Willem II, Willem III en Wilhelmina
Horrix, Gebroeders, 1842 - 1849
Chair used by William III (1817-1890) at his investiture as king in the New Church in Amsterdam, 1849, made by Horrix of The Hague, 1842. This mahogany chair was originally used as a couch by King Willem II. After his death in March 1849 his widow, Queen Anna Paulowna, gave the chair to her son to use at his installation as king. For the ceremonial investiture on 12 May 1849 the gilt lower section, the lions and the royal crown were added to the chair. The marshall's staffs and the footstool were also added. The upholstery on the back was replaced with the text: `Chair of King William II presented by Queen Anna Paulowna to King William III'. The chair was used again for the investiture of Queen Wilhelmina in 1898. On loan from Stichting Historische Verzamelingen van het Huis Oranje-Nassau, The Hague.
