The Adoration of the Magi

Pieter Aertsen, c. 1560

This altarpiece, which originally had two wings, is dedicated to the adoration of the newborn baby Jesus by the three magi, each of whom was represented on one of the panels. This centre panel depicts only the oldest king.

    Middenpaneel van een drieluik met een voorstelling van de aanbidding der koningen. Rechts Maria, Jozef en het Christuskind. Links een knielende koning met zijn gevolg en kamelen. Dit middenpaneel maakt samen met het zijluik SK-A-1909 deel uit van een drieluik met een voorstelling van de aanbidding door de koningen.
