Framed drawing in pen and ink with black, brown and grey wash of the Dutch fleet leaving the Texel.

This drawing is the first scene of a set of four relating to the action off Dogger Bank on 5 August 1781.

Almost nothing is known about the work of J. Weuyster (active 1760-84), except for a number of similar maritime drawings in Het Scheepvaartmuseum and the Atlas van Stolk. Some of these were probably derived from the three-part series by Mathias de Saillieth.
