Teagown (robe d’interieur)

At the end of the 19th century voices calling for the abolition of the corset were raised. This somewhat loosely falling dress creates the impression that a corset was no longer necessary. Yet the inner bodice of the dress still has whalebone stays for support. Many women, namely, had worn corsets from an early age and could no longer do without them.
