Peter Struycken (1939), paper, ink, 1983
Peter Struycken has been using the computer since the end of the 1960s to, as he says himself, control complexity. This drawing is made on a computer-run drawing machine: the artist sets the parameters and the machine produces the dots of ink in a calculated pattern. Struycken uses this mathematical approach to explore the relationship between place, colour, change and space, while eliminating the factor of chance.
