Ranket

Willem Wijne (1730-1816), fruitwood, brass, cork

The ranket, or racket, was already known at the beginning of the 16th century. This is a bassoon in which the single wind channel is so contorted that it fits into this compact shape. The finger holes are visible on the exterior of the instrument.
