Portrait of Anne of Hanover, Princess Royal and Princess of Orange, Consort of Prince William IV

attributed to Johann Valentin Tischbein, 1753

Anna of Hannover, attributed to J.V. Tischbein, 1753. Princess Anna was the eldest daughter of George II of England. In 1734 she married William IV. After the death of the stadholder in 1751, Anna ruled as regent in the place of her infant son, the later stadholder, William V. Anna is depicted two years after her husband's death. About her wrist is a bracelet, perhaps with a miniature portrait of William. Beside the oranges is the royal crown of England.
