Plaque depicting an interior with figures

anonymous, c. 1770 - c. 1775

A man in summer dress converses with a Manchurian woman, recognizable from her large shoes and broad hairstyle. The books and writing materials in the cabinet suggest that she is well educated. The four plaques in this series are still in their original Chinese lacquer frames.

    Koperen plaque beschilderd met emails met een man en een vrouw en een bediende in een interieur. In de achtergrond is een venster opengezaagd en achter de opening is een op papier geschilderd landschap geplakt. De figuren en architectuurelementen zijn in ondiep reliëf aangegeven. Originele zwart gelakte lijst met eekhoorns en wijnranken in goud.
