Copy of Fan Kuan’s Travellers among Mountains and Streams
Yi-tsai Chiang, 1993
One of the masterpieces at the National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan is an 11th-century scroll painting by Fan Kuan (c. 950-1032). It depicts the sweeping landscape of northern China. It became a model for many artists, who copied it over the centuries as part of their learning process. The same holds true for this 20th-century version.
