Italiaans berglandschap met schippers bezig met het laden en lossen van hun boten aan de oever van een meer. In het midden een moeder met een kind aan de borst, op de voorgrond een koe en een ezel. Misschien bedoeld als een voorstelling van de vlucht naar Egypte.
