Lewuke, the disawa (district chief) of the Four Korales, presented this costly cannon to the King of Kandy in 1745. The cannon displays the king’s symbols: a sun, a half moon and a Sinhalese lion. Salutes were fired from it to welcome visitors. The Dutch took it as booty during the military campaign in 1765.
