Model van een houtstoof of stoomkist met dubbele bodem voor het buigen van planken, op een grondplank. Het is een lange, gebogen kist waarin twee niveaus zijn aangebracht. Eén van de lange kanten, waarin kleine deurtjes zijn aangebracht, is bol gebogen. Op de vloeren van zowel het onderste als het bovenste compartiment zijn ijzeren leggers aangebracht. De kist heeft aan een korte kant een schuifdeur met een takel voor het bovenste compartiment, de deur voor het onderste compartiment ontbreekt. Aan de andere kant staat een ketel met leidingen naar de twee compartimenten; onder de ketel, onder grondniveau, is een ovendeur.

Entry

Model of a double wood kiln or steaming box for bending planks, mounted on a wooden base.

The model consists of a long, slightly arched box with two levels. One of the long sides, in which a number of small doors are set, is curved. On the floors of both the upper and lower compartments iron bars have been placed. One of the ends of the box has a vertically sliding door with a tackle for the upper compartment; the door for the lower compartment is missing. At the other end a boiler has been placed, with conduits going to both compartments. Beneath the boiler a furnace entrance below ground level is indicated.

A kiln like this one was built at the Navy dockyard in Amsterdam in 1798.3J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 20. This is probably the model that was part of the private collection of Jochem Pietersz Asmus (1755-1837) mentioned in 1807.4HNA 2.01.29.02 Dept. Marine, Aanhangsel I, inv. no. 20, La. G no. 7.
