Entry

Model of a chain anchor, consisting of a shank with a bent arm with flukes and a wooden anchor stock and a shackle for a ring.

The shank of chain anchors was shorter and heavier than in common anchors to compensate for the weight of the chain. The puddened anchor ring has been replaced by a shackle.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 605.
