Engelse gitaar
John Preston (mogelijk), ca. 1775
Five-course English guitar of pear-shaped outline. It has a flat two-piece spruce top and maple ribs and back. The soundhole has a rose in the form of a twelve-pointed star, each ray veneered in ivory and coulored wood. The peg box is elongated and surmounted by a inlaid plaque with eight-pointed star, the rays of ivory and coulored wood. Ten ebony pegs with ivory buttons. Ten ivory pins, arranged in two symmetrical group of five are set into the bottom block, together with an ivory button for the shoulder strap, immediately below.
