Two Vases (vase grec Duplessis rectifié)

These two vases were purchased in Sèvres by the heir to the Russian throne, the future Tsar Paul I, and his second wife Maria Fyodorovna. They were very fond of French fashion, which often embraced antique forms at that point in time. This is reflected in the details of the vases, such as the fluted pilasters and the frieze with rosettes.<br>

Description
Vaas van veelkleurig beschilderd porselein, met een roze fond met gouden en witte stippen. De vaas staat op een ronde voet die op een vierkante plint staat. Het gewelfde deksel heeft een vergulde bol als knop. De twee lintvormige opgaande oren zijn aan de ant recht omgebogen en eindigen beneden in een leeuwenkop met een ring in de bek. Langs de hals hangen guirlandes en op de buik is een band met cirkels waarbinnen bladeren in relief. De vaas is gemerkt.
