Two Vases (vase grec Duplessis rectifié)

These two vases were purchased in Sèvres by the heir to the Russian throne, the future Tsar Paul I, and his second wife Maria Fyodorovna. They were very fond of French fashion, which often embraced antique forms at that point in time. This is reflected in the details of the vases, such as the fluted pilasters and the frieze with rosettes.<br>
