Entry

Polychromed rigged frame model mounted on a stand.

Carvel built double-banked longboat with a round bottom and a square-ended stern. It has a small foredeck, six thwarts with five stretchers and an open cockpit with side benches. The stem has a sheave. The model has a basic rudder with a brass tiller that is bent to go around the mizzen mast. The rigging consists of a mainmast with a split lugsail, and a mizzen mast with jigger boom and a small triangular jigger. The oars are stowed in forked posts. The model has two brass supports for an awning and a boat hook.

In 1865 the designs of launches and lifeboats were revised.1HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, inv. no. 4009 & Exh. 9/2/1865 N35. This model represents the longboat type A4.
