Waterpas, bestaande uit een schietlood op een houten bord. Het bord is een gelijkbenige driehoek met geschulpte zijkanten en een rechte basis. Van de bovenhoek is een loodlijn naar de basis getrokken en hangt een lijntje met een messing schietlood. Bij de basis is een rechthoekje uitgespaard, waarin het lood achter een ijzeren beugeltje kan worden geborgd als het instrument niet wordt gebruikt. Achterop bij de bovenhoek een ophanghaak.

Entry

Levelling instrument consisting of a plumb line on a wooden board.

The board is triangular with scalloped sides and a straight base. From the upper corner a line is drawn perpendicular to the base and the plumb line is hung. At the base is a small indentation in which the brass plumb is caught, behind an iron brace, when the instrument is not in use. To the back at the top is a hook.

Levels like these were standard shipwright’s equipment for centuries.
