Model of a figurehead

anonymous, c. 1800 - c. 1850

Model van een schegbeeld op scheg, op een grondplankje, incompleet. De figuur is een rennende man in Romeinse kleding en wapenrusting, zijn rechter arm opgeheven, in de linker een pijlenbundel; het voorwerp dat hij in zijn rechterhand houdt, ontbreekt. Scheg en vloerplankje zijn versierd met met bladwerk in reliëf. De figuur stelt Mars voor.

Entry

Wooden model of a figurehead on the knee of the head, mounted on a base, incomplete. The figure is of a running man in Roman dress and armour, his right arm pointing forward, in his left hand a bundle of arrows. The object that he held in his right hand has broken off. With his right foot he is treading on a dragon. The base and the knee of the head are decorated with relief carvings of foliage. The figure represents Mars.
