Standing Woman
Nicholas Stone (I), c. 1612 - c. 1615
The architect and sculptor Hendrick de Keyser stayed in London in 1607. It was there that he met the Englishman Nicholas Stone, who would work for De Keyser in Amsterdam in the following years. This sculpture of a young woman in contemporary dress may have been made by Stone while under his supervision. It probably served as a model for a sculpture decorating the facade of a (semi-)public building.
