Clock Case

Matthijs Horrix, c. 1780

Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia commissioned this case to house a special clock given to her by her uncle, King Frederick the Great. Horrix designed the case in the shape of a Chinese pagoda and veneered it with 17th-century Japanese lacquer. Wilhelmina placed this clock case in her bedroom in the Stadtholder’s residence in The Hague.<br>
