High-heeled shoes with undulating bands

anonymous, c. 1930

Formal shoes for women were generally open and high-heeled. The materials were more attractive, and more delicate than the leather used for everyday wear: they were often covered with satin and brocade, or made of gold or silver-coloured leather. This pair is decorated with white undulating bands contrasting with the black satin.
