Meissener Porzellan Manufaktur, c. 1730 - c. 1735

The German porcelain factory at Meissen was set up in 1710, and it soon attracted talented young artists. One of them, Johann Gregor Höroldt, initiated the practice of buying prints to use as models, and often borrowed prints from August II the Strong’s library in nearby Dresden. Höroldt was likely responsible for introducing Schenk’s Dutch designs into the Meissen porcelain workshop.

Description
Vaas van beschilderd porselein. De vaas is bijna geheel bedekt emet een gele fond waarin twee uitgespaarde vierpassen. In de ene vierpas is een chinese man te paard met naast zich twee gewapende dienaren in een landschap met links twee bomen en rechts een huis op rotsen geschilderd, in de andere vierpas een huis aan het water met drie chinese figuren. Op de schouder is een fries van Indianische Blumen op zwart gespikkelde groene fond geschilderd waarin twee velden met gestileerde vogels. De vaas is gemerkt.
