Tuberous chunks of jasper were found in Bohemia. They were considered wonders of nature and exported to other European centres of art. The Italian carver of this coupe exploited the natural form of the mineral. The lobate shape of the bowl recurs in the enamelled gold grip.

Coupe van roodbruine jaspis op voet, gemonteerd met geëmailleerd goud. Voet balustervormige stam en schaal zijn verbonden door gouden banden versierd met ranken en verzonken email en opgelegde edelstenen in vierkante vatting. De eivormige schaal is gelobd en vertoont aan het afgeronde einde een ingerold bladmotief van groen, rood en geëmailleerd goud.
