Komposition mit Ovalen

Sculptor, painter and film director William Wauer belonged to the older generation of artists in 1922. He already enjoyed a fine reputation in German art circles, especially as a sculptor of portrait busts. His Cubist simplification of figures in just a few straight and curved lines is characteristic of these likenesses. Wauer favoured the same pictorial language in his abstract work Komposition mit Ovalen.
