Getting started with the collection:
Seven sleeve vases rolwagens
anoniem, c. 1635 - c. 1650
Rolwagen vases are tall and cylindrical in shape. Their name, literally ‘rolling wagon’, may derive from a kind of wheelchair, which is sometimes depicted on them, as can be seen on one of the seven vases on view here. The decors are based on woodcut illustrations.
