Two Figurines of a Parrot on a Rock. Derived from copper and potash (potassium carbonate), turquoise was first used as a glaze colour in the 15th century. After the porcelain body had been fired at a high temperature, the turquoise was applied and the piece fired again at a lower temperature. The glaze has a glassy appearance and at times displays some crackle on the surface.
