Bowl

anonymous, c. 1625 - c. 1649

Depicted on one side of this bowl is a landscape with three men in a boat; the other side bears the whole text from the Second Red Cliff Rhapsody by Su Shi. This is the reason why this vessel is known as the ‘Red Cliff bowl.’ The scene presents Su Shi and his friends taking a nocturnal boat ride to the Red Cliff.
