anonymous, c. 1700

This teapot combines a number of shapes derived from nature. The body resembles a double gourd, while the spout and handle look like gnarled tree branches. A grapevine winds around the body. In Chinese culture, gourds and grapevines are regarded as auspicious, symbolizing longevity, fertility, and prosperity.
