paint, h 36.6cm × d 20cm More details

The elegant woman in the chair is Xiwangmu, the Queen Mother of the West. This gathering is in celebration of her birthday. She watches a dancer performing to music played by a female orchestra. Xiwangmu grows peaches in the Kunlun Mountains. Because her trees only bear fruit once every 3,000 years, immortality is conferred on those who eat them.
