Lidded Box

anonymous, c. 1200 - c. 1500

During this period (c. 1200-1500) many bronze objects played a role in Korean Buddhist rituals, underlining the importance of Buddhism in Korea. However, small boxes like this one served a secular purpose. They have been found in tombs, alongside stoneware and other items intended for the afterlife of the deceased.
