Three Guanyin Figures. During the Tang dynasty, Guanyin was the most frequently represented of all the deities. In this period artists began to vary their portrayals of this divinity. Small sculptures such as these were probably meant for pilgrims to take on their journey, so that Guanyin would protect them from misfortune.
