Polychromed fully planked wooden half bracket model of the port side of a ship, mounted on a small rectangular wooden backboard.
The side of the ship is fully planked on top of frame moulds. Thirteen pierced gun ports are situated on the upper and lower decks, of which only three are on the lower deck. The foremost gun port is fitted with a port-lid. A fourteenth gun port is painted on the counter. The forecastle and quarterdeck have blue upper sides, the quarterdeck hances are decorated with carved floral volutes as their hancing pieces. Five small, black squares are painted on the side of the lower deck suggesting the presence of either oar ports or scuppers. The sheer rises aft. Two wales and the sheer rail are indicated, the wales are painted black. The model has a fore channel, the main and mizzen channels are continuous. The bow features a detailed beakhead with a carved figurehead depicting a rampant crowned lion, two cheeks with a floral trail board, headrails, hawseholes, a beakhead bulkhead and a beakhead platform. The cathead is missing, only the curved headrail that forms its decorated knee remains. The stern has a round tuck and a hollow counter. The taffrail and the single-storey quarter and stern galleries are decorated with baroque floral carvings and are painted yellow and blue. The lower finishing of the quarter gallery is an ornamental fishtail. The top of the taffrail bears a carved coat of arms on which three waves can be vaguely distinguished. The model does not have a rudder. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. No masts or bowsprit.
This model was identified by process of elimination only and its identification therefore remains uncertain. According to Obreen this model, number 303, represents the design of a 36-gun frigate from Zeeland of 1780. The coat of arms equally hints at Zeeland as its place of origin.
