Halfmodel van een kruisboot

Gepolychromeerd stapelmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. Geen geschutpoorten; op het dek een dekhuis achter de grote mast. Klippersteven. Elliptisch hek, roer met ronde roerkoning (Amerikaans roer) en breed afgerond roerblad. De zeeg loopt iets op aan beide uiteinden. Gepiekt rondspant. Beide masten hellen achterover. Achterop het model zijn de spanten ingekrast. Schaal 1:20 (schaal op model).

Toelichting

  • Een groot aantal kruisboten is in de 19de eeuw voor de Gouvernementsmarine in Oost-Indië gebouwd. Zij waren bewapend met 2 eenponders. De laatste werd in 1905 uit dienst gesteld.

Half Model of a ‘Kruisboot’

Entry

Polychromed wooden ‘bread-and-butter’ style half block model of the starboard side of a two-masted vessel, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard that has been painted white.

The side of the ship is closed and painted black. The deck is closed and features a deckhouse behind the mainmast. The railcap is painted white. The model has a clipper bow. The stern is elliptical. Below the stern a round-headed rudder with a broad, rounded blade is indicated. The sheer rises slightly towards both ends. The hull is slightly S-bottomed and painted a metallic copper colour below the waterline. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form. Both masts rake considerably.

At the back of the model all the frames are indicated.

A large number of so-called ‘kruisboten’, gunboats armed with two guns, were built for the Dutch Colonial Navy to serve in the Dutch East Indies, specifically for coastal patrols and to counter piracy.
