Model van een dubbele kaapstander

Model van een dubbele kaapstander in een houten frame met drie niveau's. Beide trommels hebben gaten voor tien windbomen en hebben geen kiezen. De bovenste trommel kan op vier plaatsen opengemaakt worden om het raderwerk bestaande uit horizontale en een paar schuin liggende raderwielen te laten zien, die de beweging van de bovenste trommel in een ratio van 11/1 in omgekeerde richting op de onderste trommel overbrengt. Vlak onder de kop van de bovenste trommel zit een sleutelgat, maar de sleutel ontbreekt, zodat de functie ervan niet achterhaald is. De onderste trommel heeft een getande cirkel op de kop met een pal hangend aan de zoldering, om het teruglopen te voorkomen. In de zijden van het frame zijn assen voor schijven gemonteerd, waarschijnlijk voor touwen bij demonstraties. Schaal 1:5 (schatting).

Model of a double capstan in a wooden frame with three levels.

Both barrels have holes for ten bars and have no whelps. The upper barrel can be opened in four places in order to expose the gear train, consisting of horizontal toothed wheels and a pair of inclined toothed wheels, which transfer the revolutions of the upper barrel to the lower barrel at a ratio of 11:1 and in the opposite direction. There is a hole for a key just below the head of the upper barrel, but the key is missing and the purpose of the keyhole could not be determined. The lower barrel has a toothed circle on the trundle head, with a pawl that hangs from the deck head to prevent it from turning back. Mounted in the sides of the frame are a number of axles for sheaves, probably for demonstration purposes.
