Model van een tonmolen

Werkend model van een vijzelmolen. De vijzel is verticaal geplaatst in een houten bak en wordt aangedreven met een raderwerk met zwengel. Het opgewerkte water loopt over een korte lip en terug in de bak.

Demonstration model of an Archimedean screw.3J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 52. The screw is placed vertically in a wooden tank and is operated by gears by means of a handle. The raised water is led back into the tank over a short lip.

This model is probably one of two mentioned by Jochem Pietersz Asmus (1755-1837) as part of his private collection in 1807.4HNA 2.01.29.02 Dept. Marine, Aanhangsel I, inv. no. 20, La. F nos. 20 and 21.
