Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a three-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. The side above the wale is planked and painted black, with a white band running along the full length of the main gun deck. Fourteen recessed gun ports are indicated in two tiers. The forecastle and quarterdeck have square hances. The sheer rises towards both ends. One wale and two sheer rails are indicated. The bow features an empty beakhead. The stern has a round tuck and a hollow counter. The closed taffrail is without any further details. The model does not have quarter galleries. Below the stern a square-headed rudder rounded at the waterline is indicated. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The position of three masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.

The 28-gun sloop of war Nehalennia, 36.5 metres long, was built by Cornelis Soetermeer (1782-1842) in Flushing from 1825 to 1827.¹¹J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 343. Nehalennia operated mainly in the Dutch East Indies and was sold out of service there in 1856.²²A.J. Vermeulen, De schepen van de Koninklijke Marine en die der gouvernementsmarine 1814-1962, The Hague 1962, p. 19.
