Self-Portrait with Cristi, Manipulated
Aat Veldhoen, c. 1988
In 1989, the photographer Erwin Olaf opened an exhibition of painted Polaroids taken by Veldhoen, often in collaboration with his wife Cristi. For the occasion, the manipulated Polaroids were blown up into monumental ‘paintings.’ These included a selfportrait, a beach scene, and a composition featuring bathers. It was the only time that Veldhoen showed this work in public.
