William III's Bible table, 1874. For many Protestants the House of Orange was above all their own - Protestant - House. King William III received this table in 1874 to mark the 25th anniversary of his reign. It was intended to be used as a Bible lectern. The inscription `Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and for ever' is a quotation from one of Paul's letters (Hebrews 13:8). On loan from Stichting Historische Verzamelingen van het Huis Oranje-Nassau, The Hague.
