Women’s Kimono

anoniem, 1920 - 1940

Japan experienced a period of growing modernity in the years from 1920 onwards. New, mechanically produced silk textiles in brighter colours than before came on the market. The fabric of this kimono features a vibrant pattern of origami cranes and stylized camellia flowers. The weft threads are thicker and have more space between them than usual, yielding a finely ribbed surface.
