gilding, h cm More details

Along with Paris, Berlin was a centre of the Empire Style. The prominent architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel designed an elaborate table garniture in this style for King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia. The eagles refer to the king’s coat of arms. A surtout de table is part of the table decoration at lavish banquets. The bowls, filled with flowers, were placed in the middle of the table.
