Pillow Japan 19th Century Signature: 'Yoyusai' Lacquer on wood The pillow is decorated with a bag containing alute (biwa). The openings are shaped in the form of a mouth organ (sho). Both symbols stand for a happy marriage. The two family crests on the bag further indicate that this must have been a wedding present.
