Gaspar Fagel, grandpensionary, by J. Vollevens I. Gaspar Fagel (1634-1688) held several important administrative posts in the Republic. In 1672 he succeeded Johan de Witt as grandpensionary of the province of Holland, a keyposition in the Republic's regime. Fagel was the right-hand man of Prince William III, who was appointed stadholder in 1672. Fagel is standing at a table on which are a number of boxes of seals. In the background is the assembly hall of the States of Holland.

    Portret van Caspar Fagel (1634-88), raadpensionaris van Holland sedert 1672. Staande, ten halven lijve, met op de achtergrond de vergaderzaal van de Staten van Holland op het Binnenhof te Den Haag. Kopie naar het origineel in het Haags Historisch Museum.
