Two Watchcases and a Dial

Michiel le Blon (mentioned on object), c. 1620 - c. 1626

Originally from Germany, the engraver and goldsmith Michiel le Blon rose to become an important art dealer and collector in Amsterdam. He also continued to publish prints. The two watchcases are decorated with St Jerome at the left, and a coat-of-arms and leaf patterns at the right. The oval clock would develop into the round pocket watch later in the 17th century.
