De sater Aristaeus die imker was besluipt Proteus in zijn grot. Hij bindt hem vast en dwingt hem uit te leggen waarom zijn bijen dood zijn gegaan. In de marge de titel in het Frans, Engels, Duits en Nederlands. De voorstelling is gedecoreerd met een ornamentele rand.
