Console table

The four legs of this table represent the Four Seasons. Because it is a console table meant to be placed against a wall, the two back figures are turned towards the front. The gilding of the table is very worn, so the red underlayer shows through in places. Originally, the piece must have looked as if it was made of gold, or silver gilt.

    Tafel van verguld gebeeldhouwd eikenhout op vier overhoeks geplaatste poten, door een X-vormig kruis verbonden. Op het kruispunt staat een mand met vruchten en bloemen. De poten worden gevormd door S-vormige voluten, waarboven kariatiden en atlanten die de seizoenen voorstellen. De poten worden door een schelp en festoenen met elkaar verbonden. Het blad is op de hoeken geschulpt, heeft een gelobte rand en is in het midden met een rozet versierd, omgeven door bladranken. Verguldsel is grotendeels weggesleten.
