Half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.
The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked. A rail on stanchions is fitted at the quarterdeck. The sheer rises towards both ends, rising sharply towards the stern. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated. At the bow, the stem is coming up to the vertical. The bowsprit is fitted to a knighthead. The knee of the cathead has floral carvings, the cathead itself is missing. The stern has a round tuck, a hollow counter and a taffrail. Below the stern a straight, square-headed rudder is indicated. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The keel is not straight but rises slightly at both ends. The model has two sets of channels. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.
This model was made after the 4-gun schooner Zwerver, 80 feet long, built by Pieter Glavimans Jansz (1768-1850) in Rotterdam in 1799.1
Scale (derived) approx. 1:40.
